I used honey as a primer. Here's what happened.

The things I put on my face in the name of makeup! This week, I used honey as a primer.

While exploring Sephora, I was given a sample of a new honey product. "A soothing multi-purpose salve that repairs extra-dry, cracked skin", Farmacy's Honey Savior is formulated with honey and bee glue. Literally, the glue used by bees to patch hive holes. This glue (propolis) has been used to heal skin since 350 B.C.

I first used this salve for eczema and small dry spots. With the consistency of honey, it is very nourishing but sticky. I was excited to try it out!

Makeup primers have never treated my skin well. Primers often contain chemicals such as silicon that have caused me redness and breakouts. I don't have sensitive skin, so this has baffled me.

On a whim, I applied Honey Savior as a primer. I did not expect this product to work. I was simply hoping that the tackiness would keep my makeup from completely melting throughout the day while protecting my skin. I applied the product after washing my face, followed by foundation with a damp blender. Both liquid and powder makeup was used.

This was at 6:00am. By 10:00pm, my makeup was still clinging. My skin looked radiant and felt smooth.

The product smoothed over rough patches, cared for broken skin, and glued the makeup to my face.

Many primers are $30-50 for a 1oz tube. In comparison, Honey Savior is available in a 1.6oz tube for $34 and its benefits far exceed other primers. The product is thick and tacky, so only a pea-sized amount is needed. I'd recommend this product is for anyone with dry skin or seeking a naturally radiant skin finish!
